Art Newsletter 07

It's been five months since the last time I wrote to you. How could that be? Well, beautiful Spring is watching me through my studio window and all the snow has melted. Time must have eluded me.

January;
Art to Heart XVI! The director of the Richmond Art Museum called me and asked if I would donate the featured piece for their annual Art to Heart fundraiser to benefit Reid Hospital Foundation & The Art Museum. This event was my inspiration for "The Healing Touch" which was auctioned for over $3000.

February;
I got contacted by Palette Gallery in Ojai, California regarding representation.

March;
Together with several local female artists I took part in the Women's Commission Exhibition at the Indiana University East Gallery. While in South Africa my work was displayed at Jaarsma Art Gallery's annual exhibit. I was also fortunate to be able to visit the New York Art Expo and was so impressed with the quality of the show that I have already committed to take part in next year's Art Expo. While in New York City, TJ and I of course could not resist visiting New York's Museum of Modern Art and see the Edvard Munch: The Modern Life of the Soul exhibit. I was so moved by his work and the raw honesty in which he portrayed his ideas that I know it has already had an influence on me. (This was just after TJ dragged me out jogging through the snow in Central Park at 25°F!)

April;
I did a series that really moved me. Sometimes one thinks back at the guidelines around 'good' art and the qualities a high-quality painting should have. Well, this was not one of those times. I started a series of three 24 x 30" black and white canvasses that I would describe as... Antoine, what would you describe them as? Maybe I'll just show you:

Number 3 is in planning...

May;
Well, this is going to be a very exciting month! Together with Palette Gallery I will be taking part in the Santa Fe Art Colony's 17th Annual Open Studio Show, South Santa Fe Ave, Los Angeles (6-7 May) Then I will be flying to London on the 11th of May to visit La Mostra Gallery as well as LondonArt and of course spend some time in my favorite Tate Modern Museum. Since I lived in London in 2001 & 2002 my interest in photography has grown immensely and I am very excited to go back to attempt capturing a little of the heart of London and Wales. Amongst other things I have planned some photo shoots together with my childhood friend, Elna Moodie from KiekieBox.com who has turned from my 6 year old my mud-worm-pie baking, tree-climbing companion to a very established London photographer. Ok, before I getting carried away and tell you all of my childhood secrets... Saturday May 20th will be the opening of Palette Gallery's one year anniversary exhibition where 8 of my paintings would be exhibited. If by any chance you are in the Santa Barbara area, please do not hesitate in stopping by!

June;
We will be touring from Portland, Oregon, south against the coast all the way to Los Angeles. This will be my first visit to the West Coast of the U.S. and I cannot wait. Hopefully I'll get to add another new section to my photography section of my site!

Before you go, please visit my updated 'Art for Sale' and 'New Artwork' sections. I have just added 'add to cart' buttons to all my available work so please do try them out! :-)

Regards,
Antoine
